Using the site

CounterWord provides a free word and character counting tool and related written guides. You may use the tool for personal, academic, or commercial purposes at no cost.

The counting tool is provided "as is." While we aim for accurate word, character, sentence, and paragraph counts, we don't guarantee the results are error-free or suitable for every purpose — for graded assignments or contractual character limits, always confirm against the rules of the platform or institution in question.

Your content

Text you type or paste into the counter is processed entirely in your browser and is never transmitted to or stored by CounterWord. You remain solely responsible for the content you enter.

Acceptable use

Please don't attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a rate that degrades service for others, or use it to generate or process unlawful content.

Advertising

This site may display third-party advertising, including through Google AdSense. Ads are served by third parties and CounterWord is not responsible for the content of advertisements or the sites they link to.
